Beat joins the Campaign for Body Confidence

September 8, 2010

We are delighted to welcome Beat as the newest member of the Campaign for Body Confidence steering group.

Beat is the leading UK charity for people with eating disorders and their families, and is celebrating its 21st birthday this year.  Beat provides information and support to those suffering from eat disorders, encouraging them to seek treatment and recovery.  It also campaigns for better services and treatment for people with eating disorders, and seeks to challenge the stigma and stereotyping which sufferers face.

Susan Ringwood, Chief Executive of Beat, said:

“We know how a negative body image and low self esteem can raise the risk for eating disorders. We are committed to doing all we can to make young people resilient to the pressures they face. The Campaign for Body Confidence will make a real difference, and Beat is pleased to be taking a visibly active role in support of the campaign by joining the steering group.”

Other members of the steering group are  All Walks Beyond the Catwalk, Girl Guiding UK, Central YMCA, Mumsnet, Dr Susie Orbach, Jo Swinson MP and the Minister for Equalities Lynne Featherstone MP.
